About us

A Marin team, built around steady care

Calm Harbor Care was founded in Marin, for Marin families, to offer the kind of care we would want for our own parents.

Meet our founder

Sabrina Rodriguez

“A line from Sabrina, in her own words, about why she started Calm Harbor.”

Sabrina’s story in her own words: her background, what brought her to this work, why Marin, and what she wants every family to feel. Drafted from an interview, then edited by her.

Why “Calm Harbor”

A harbor is where you come in from rough water and find steady ground. That’s what we want to be for families: a calm, reliable place to turn when caring for someone you love starts to feel like too much.

Our logo carries the same idea, a sun rising over calm water: shelter, a new day, and someone steady beside you.

Our standards

California sets a floor for home care. Here is how we meet it, and where we go further.

Caregivers on our own payroll

Every caregiver is a W-2 employee of Calm Harbor Care, not a contractor. We carry the responsibility for their screening, training, supervision and insurance.

Background-checked

Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint checks, plus TB clearance, before anyone meets a client.

State-registered

Every caregiver is listed on California’s Home Care Aide Registry, and you can look them up yourself.

Trained, and always learning

Training before a caregiver’s first visit and every year after, including dementia care to the standard California requires starting in 2027.

Insured and bonded

General and professional liability insurance, workers’ compensation for every caregiver, a bond that protects your home, and auto coverage for rides.

Speaking up for safety

Every caregiver is trained to recognize and report elder abuse or neglect, as California law requires, and we act on every concern.

For professionals

For those who advise Marin families

If you’re an estate planning attorney, care manager, physician, financial planner, or someone families turn to for advice, Sabrina would love to meet you.

We keep referrers informed, we’re honest when a family’s needs aren’t right for us, and we care for the families you trust us with as if they were our own.

Planning ahead? Let’s talk now.

If you’re starting to think about care for someone you love, it’s not too early to talk, even before we open.
